Letting go of thoughts



Letting go of our thoughts is key to meditation. This drawing is a continuation of the series of drawings I have done about a moment an owl hovered above me. In that moment, I had no thoughts, being mesmerised by the bird. I think chance meetings with wildlife often present us with a moment similar to that of being in meditation. There is a stillness and timeless feeling which descends upon us. All thoughts fade away as we become totally present in the moment. In meditation, we are taught to let the thoughts come and acknowledge them, but then let them go. This picture is about that process, with the central figure being still. It is done on paper with black ink.
