As Seurat once said, charcoal drawing can contain more colour than any other art form. It is an extremely modern medium, and yet used in the ancient cave drawings. It's strength is it's simplicity. The subject nor Artist can hide behind technique. It is wonderfully direct and honest, producing a medium of striking clarity.
